Kamakura at a Glance
About Kamakura
Kamakura, a 90-minute train ride from Tokyo, is a must-visit destination that embodies a serene and tranquil atmosphere. The city's Great Buddha statue, a 13-meter-tall bronze figurine, is an unmissable attraction that attracts millions of visitors each year. What truly sets Kamakura apart, however, is its unique forested paths and scenic coastline, which offer a serene escape from the bustling city life.
The best time to visit Kamakura is during spring (March to May) when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and autumn (September to November) when the foliage is stunning. For first-time visitors, consider purchasing a Kamakura Enoshima Pass, which grants access to multiple temples, beaches, and scenic spots, making it an efficient and cost-effective way to explore the city.
